Interlayer Interactions in Anisotropic Atomically-thin Rhenium Diselenide
Recently, two-dimensional (2D) materials with strong in-plane anisotropic
properties such as black phosphorus have demonstrated great potential for
developing new devices that can take advantage of its reduced lattice symmetry
with potential applications in electronics, optoelectronics and
thermoelectrics. However, the selection of 2D material with strong in-plane
anisotropy has so far been very limited and only sporadic studies have been
devoted to transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDC) materials with reduced
lattice symmetry, which is yet to convey the full picture of their optical and
phonon properties, and the anisotropy in their interlayer interactions. Here,
we study the anisotropic interlayer interactions in an important TMDC 2D
material with reduced in-plane symmetry - atomically thin rhenium diselenide
(ReSe2) - by investigating its ultralow frequency interlayer phonon vibration
modes, the layer dependent optical bandgap, and the anisotropic
photoluminescence (PL) spectra for the first time. The ultralow frequency
interlayer Raman spectra combined with the first study of polarization-resolved
high frequency Raman spectra in mono- and bi-layer ReSe2 allows deterministic
identification of its layer number and crystal orientation. PL measurements
show anisotropic optical emission intensity with bandgap increasing from 1.26
eV in the bulk to 1.32 eV in monolayer, consistent with the theoretical results
based on first-principle calculations. The study of the layer-number dependence
of the Raman modes and the PL spectra reveals the relatively weak van der Waals
interaction and 2D quantum confinement in atomically-thin ReSe2.Comment: 17 pages, 5 figures, supplementary informatio
Time Differential Pricing Model of Urban Rail Transit Considering Passenger Exchange Coefficient
Passenger exchange coefficient is a significant factor which has great impact on the pricing model of urban rail transit. This paper introduces passenger exchange coefficient into a bi-level programming model with time differential pricing for urban rail transit by analysing variation regularity of passenger flow characteristics. Meanwhile, exchange cost coefficient is also considered as a restrictive factor in the pricing model. The improved particle swarm optimisation algorithm (IPSO) was applied to solve the model, and simulation results show that the proposed improved pricing model can effectively realise stratification of fares for different time periods with different routes. Taking Line 2 and Line 8 of the Beijing rail transit network as an example, the simulation result shows that passenger flows of Line 2 and Line 8 in peak hours decreased by 9.94% and 19.48% and therefore increased by 32.23% and 44.96% in off-peak hours, respectively. The case study reveals that dispersing passenger flows by means of fare adjustment can effectively drop peak load and increase off-peak load. The time differential pricing model of urban rail transit proposed in this paper has great influences on dispersing passenger flow and ensures safety operation of urban rail transit. It is also a valuable reference for other metropolitan rail transit operating companies
3D printing high interfacial bonding polyether ether ketone components via pyrolysis reactions
Recently, 3D-printed polyether-ether-ketone (PEEK) components have been shown to offer many applications in state-of-the-art electronics, 5G wireless communications, medical implantations, and aerospace components. Nevertheless, a critical barrier that limits the application of 3D printed PEEK components is their weak interfacial bonding strength. Herein, we propose a novel method to improve this unsatisfied situation via the interface plasticizing effect of benzene derivatives obtained from the thermal pyrolysis of trisilanolphenyl polyhedral oligomeric silsequioxane (POSS). Based on this method, the bonding strength of the filaments and interlayers of 3D-printed POSS/PEEK components can reach 82.9 MPa and 59.8 MPa, respectively. Moreover, the enhancing mechanism of the pyrolysis products derived from the POSS is characterized using pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and X-ray computed tomography (X-CT). Our proposed strategy broadens the novel design space for developing additional 3D-printed materials with satisfactory interfacial bonding strength
Rolling bearing fault feature extraction under variable conditions using hybrid order tracking and EEMD
To effectively extract rolling bearing fault feature under variable conditions, a hybrid method based on order tracking and EEMD is proposed in this paper. This method takes the advantages of order tracking, ensemble empirical mode decomposition and 1.5 dimension spectrum. Firstly, order tracking is used to transform the time domain non-stationary vibration signal to angular domain stationary signal. Secondly, ensemble empirical mode decomposition is performed to decompose the angular domain stationary signal into a series of IMFs, and select the IMF in which the largest vibration energy occurs as the characteristic IMF. Thirdly, 1.5 dimension spectrum is further employed to analyze the characteristic IMF, and extract the fault features from background noise. The proposed method is applied to analyze the experimental vibration signals, and the analysis results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method under variable conditions
Palm Vein Verification Using Multiple Features and Locality Preserving Projections
Biometrics is defined as identifying people by their physiological characteristic, such as iris pattern, fingerprint, and face, or by some aspects of their behavior, such as voice, signature, and gesture. Considerable attention has been drawn on these issues during the last several decades. And many biometric systems for commercial applications have been successfully developed. Recently, the vein pattern biometric becomes increasingly attractive for its uniqueness, stability, and noninvasiveness. A vein pattern is the physical distribution structure of the blood vessels underneath a person’s skin. The palm vein pattern is very ganglion and it shows a huge number of vessels. The attitude of the palm vein vessels stays in the same location for the whole life and its pattern is definitely unique. In our work, the matching filter method is proposed for the palm vein image enhancement. New palm vein features extraction methods, global feature extracted based on wavelet coefficients and locality preserving projections (WLPP), and local feature based on local binary pattern variance and locality preserving projections (LBPV_LPP) have been proposed. Finally, the nearest neighbour matching method has been proposed that verified the test palm vein images. The experimental result shows that the EER to the proposed method is 0.1378%
